Curtiss-Wright Industrial Introduces Two-Channel, Vibration Tolerant, Tilt Position Sensor
New product launch aligns with IPAF’s 2025 Global Safety Campaign

CHRISTCHURCH, U.K. – September 11th, 2025 – Curtiss-Wright today announced the launch of the VTS2022, a two-channel version of its hugely-successful VTS2021 tilt position sensor.
Retaining the same compact footprint and rugged design, this new dual-axis, vibration-tolerant tilt position sensor offers an optimal combination of performance, safety and cost in dynamic industrial applications, making it ideal for pitch and roll detection for off-highway industrial-vehicle applications, including mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP).
Like the single-channel version, Curtiss-Wright Industrial’s VTS2022 uses IMU technology and fast-acting software algorithms to filter out disturbances caused by vibration and vehicle motion to provide output stability without the measurement delays usually associated with heavily damped, traditional sensing methods.
Each measurement axis of the VTS2022 has two sensing elements, which are constantly compared to ensure correct operation. If an error is detected, its condition is communicated to the host electronics to ensure a safe operating situation is assumed. Additionally, each output signal is calibrated to account for thermal drift, ensuring accuracy over the operating temperature range.
Additional features and benefits of the VTS2022 tilt sensor include:
- Operates from a 6-48Vdc supply, for use on 12V and 24Vdc vehicle systems
- SAE J1939 CANbus output with a choice of baud and frame rates
- Outputs thermally compensated over -40C to +85C operating range
- IP67 rating (with mated connector) provides outdoor environmental protection
- Integrated, 4-pin Deutsch DT04 compatible connector for quick, easy installation
- >385-year MTTFd
The launch of the VTS2022 aligns with the International Powered Access Federation’s 2025 Global Safety Campaign, “Stop Overturns – Safety Starts on the Ground!”.
This initiative comes in response to a troubling 50% increase in fatal accidents involving MEWP overturns between January 2021 and December 2023, underscoring the urgent need for industry-wide action to improve safety standards.
