CHRISTCHURCH, U.K. – September 25th, 2025 – Curtiss-Wright has today announced the launch of the BLS50 brushless motor controller for mobility scooters, which has been designed to deliver exceptional performance and reliability, and is backed by over three decades of proven engineering excellence.

The BLS50 sets a new benchmark in mobility with outstanding gradient performance, accommodating a wide range of user weights and scooter speeds to support a diverse array of scooter models.

This independent certification and auditing are essential for responsible product compliance, with the BLS50 brushless motor controller meeting the highest international standards. With TÜV certification and supporting documentation for the FDA, MDR, and ISO 7176-14 and -21 standards, the BLS50 simplifies regulatory submissions for manufacturers, importers, and distributors operating in highly regulated markets; a commitment that demonstrates a responsible, trusted and fully compliant process.

The BLS50’s controller features an improved battery gauge algorithm that delivers enhanced state-of-charge accuracy when used with Li-ion batteries, with programmable under- and over-voltage functions facilitating smooth control of mobility scooters in challenging situations. It is also fitted with a Battery Management System (BMS) interface connector for future use, ensuring forward compatibility with advanced battery management requirements.

Installation is streamlined thanks to the BLS50's compatibility with the current footprint and mounting dimensions of the industry-standard S45, enabling easy integration into existing scooter designs without requiring significant modifications to manufacturing processes.
